pH study

PRICE: $10,000

pH monitoring is a diagnostic test that measures the level of acidity (pH) in the esophagus and stomach to diagnose or evaluate gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

It is performed by placing a thin probe through the nose to the lower part of the esophagus, which is connected to a portable recorder to monitor the pH (your acidity level) for 24 hours.

During this time, you will have this probe in place. You can stay home and carry out your daily activities while the pH, intensity, frequency, duration, etc., are measured. This identifies the presence and frequency of acid reflux to confirm the condition. It allows the correlation of the patient's symptoms (such as heartburn, reflux, acid indigestion, burning, or chronic cough) with reflux episodes to determine their cause. It helps evaluate whether antireflux medications or surgery are working correctly.
