It is performed under sedation, which means the patient will be asleep and in a deep sleep. They will not feel any discomfort, pain, or other discomfort. It is not general anesthesia.
Among its common uses, it helps us to diagnose and treat obstructions caused by gallstones (stones in the bile duct), evaluate and treat stenosis (narrowing) of the bile ducts, pancreas and liver, take biopsies and diagnose both benign and malignant tumors (cancer) in the pancreas, bile ducts or gallbladder, drain pancreatic cysts, release blocked or obstructed areas, place prostheses, etc.
The biopsy has an additional cost of $800 pesos.
