A colonoscopy is the best method for diagnosing or ruling out colon and rectal cancer, as it allows for the examination of the inside of the lower digestive tract using a thin, flexible tube and a camera. Keep in mind that biopsies can be taken during a colonoscopy to confirm or rule out a cancer diagnosis.
It is performed under sedation, which means the patient will be asleep and in a deep sleep. They will not feel any discomfort, pain, or other discomfort. It is not general anesthesia.
Biopsies may be taken during the procedure for analysis. The biopsy has an additional cost of $800 pesos.
